getting soaked in the rain

after a long day of classes and studying at the library until dark, me and my friends decided that our brains are fried enough and call it a day. you see, being inside a building and only seeing the weather outside is tricky, no, what's that word again? ..... deceiving. we were packing up while moaning about deadlines that are coming to haunt us. not deadlines. midterms. the first wave.

my friends had umbrellas. they were clearly prepared and it's wise to carry an umbrella especially in a country that rains all the time (an exaggeration but might as well be it). i on the other hand, didn't bother carrying one. most of the time it's useless with the wind wishy washing the rain in every direction and threatening to take my umbrella or flipping it inside out. no, i'd rather accept my fate that fight it.

and that's what happened to them. my friend lost control of her umbrella and was panicking how to flip it back, at one point i thought the wind might take her away. they ended up folding their umbrellas and joined me in the rain. by the end of it we looked like wet rats.

there's something about being in the rain with other people. having a moment that you all share. at first it would be upsetting, your shoes get wet, the bottom of your jeans get wet, but then you all laugh about the situation.

we'll be dry when we get home anyway.
