doodling on the side of my notes

i'm about to write my essay when i saw the sun spilling through the living room floor. sun is scarce so i want to feel it and be in it for as long as i can. the track 'being loved isn't the same as being understood' by vines started playing through the speakers.

i grabbed a pillow to sit on the floor, grabbed my laptop, notebook, and a pen.

i was skimming through my lecture notes, already confused and knowing it's going to take me awhile to understand before i could write.

it's mothers day and i want to go see my mom.

but i have an essay due tonight, i greeted her through text and she immediately replied a simple thank you with a smiling emoji with floating hearts. then i asked her if she's watched f1 already (she's a long time fan) i know the results so wanted to know her thoughts.

then, a little girl came and grabbed by notebook and pen and started doodling stars on the side of my notes. i let her. as i sit and think on how to structure my essay.

she drew stars with no lines inside. she drew as simple as it is, not worrying about perfection. i used to want to be able to draw a perfect star with no lines inside. free handing a line-less perfect star. she didn't have to worry about that though, or she even thought of making them perfect and continued to draw stars of different sizes that quickly filled up the left side of the paper.

she paused and tapped her chin with her finger. she tends to animate her expressions like in cartoons. then decided to draw squiggles. which is confetti. she drew a c swoop and the others a twirl, then she went over those c's and twirls and shaded them inside, to give the effect of a confetti.

then she added small dashes on the tips of the stars, so it looks like they're twinkling. after doing so for each star, she paused again. she thought the line-less stars look empty inside. so she scribbled lines that followed the shape of the star. did the same for each, again not worrying about perfection.

she paused afterwards. i asked her if she's happy with it, she shakes her head i nodded for her to continue. she goes back to add more small dashes so they look like they're twinkling even more.

once she's happy, she nods as if to say 'finished' and she gets up and leave.

i hope and wish to spend more time with her.
